Hi! My name is Cristina Riera Carroand I am a freelance translator.

I have been passionate about reading since I was a child. In fact, it didn't take long for me to realize that I wanted to participate in the creation of those books that made me dream and transported me to other worlds, other lives and other realities. That's how I discovered literary translation and my vocation.

During my education as a translator and proofreader, I also ended up specializing in subtitling and dubbing, two fields on which I have focused my subsequent professional life as a freelancer.

After a couple of years as a project manager, I decided to take a leap into the freelance world and start my professional career as a subtitler and literary translator.

On his own furry way, Bilbo accompanies me every day when I work and encourages me on those days when translations seem endless.

Together we enjoy the professional puzzle that is finding the best grammatical solution, the most appropriate slang for a character or the best wordplay that exists in the language to be translated.

Furthermore, as I am not a person with a single vocation, I combine my work as a translator and proofreader with that of a ballet and contemporary dance teacher.

After finishing my degree and master's degree in Literary and Audiovisual Translation, I also decided to formalize my relationship with ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance in London and I studied Ballet Teaching Studies.

That is why —now— between consulting the dictionary or the grammar, I also teach port de bras and allegros to my students at the dance school.
